It was a little over thirty minutes long. Gray wandered away, but Jon and Jer stayed plugged in. In fact, I was surprised by how much they stayed plugged in. I just wanted to give them a big overview without too much detail. I did spend some time talking about how ridiculous the Big Bang theory is. It is silly to think that the planets all wound up in perfect orbit, and that the earth wound up the perfect distance from the sun to support life without divine creation. And then to think that we came about because amino acids lined themselves up to make proteins which lined themselves up to form a lifeform, is crazy. The boys got that. Since the boys know the stories of the Chronicles of Narnia, that really helped when talking about why Jesus died. Alsan dying for Edmunds transgression in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe helped them to understand Jesus' sacrifice. The boys know the story of the Last Battle (the last book in the Chronicles of Narnia), so I used that when talking about revelations. I know it sounds like we couldn't possibly have covered this in about thirty minutes and keep the attention of two nine year olds, but we did. Just planting seeds of truth...Sunday, February 15, 2009
