Christmas Musical at Church

I thought this year's Christmas musical was one of the best I've seen. All the songs just sounded so good. Our music minister usually hires some music majors from the university nearby to play strings and to fill in the brass and woodwind sections. We have a lot of really talented vocalists. Our church is sort of on the small side, and it doesn't look fancy from the outside, but for our size, I am amazed by the quality of musicians and singers we have. Our children's ministry is very strong also.

We dropped off Gray in the toddler nursery, and G went to rehearse before the service. I brought the boys into the sanctuary to watch. They were giggly and squirmy. I nipped and nipped at them, and they quieted down some. Then just before the service started, I took them to Children's Church.

After church I found out Jer had to "go to the wall" at Children's Church because he wouldn't settle down (he just had to go stand by a wall and be separate from the other children for a while). I am glad they held him to some consequences for being a little wiley. I don't worry about either boy as far as behavior goes. They are just typical boys, and from time to time they need to be settled down a bit.

G did so well. I am amazed at his natural ability with percussion. He didn't play in high school band or in college. He played in a "techno" band when we first met, but not the drums. When he was young, he had a drumset at home and just taught himself. He really enjoys playing at church, and he is doing a great job.

The Christmas story is amazing. The King of kings was born to a virgin in a stable. No riches. No jeweled crown. No opulent castle. No limo to bring them home from the "VIP" room at the hospital. No fancy banquet to celebrate His birth. Just a manger. But there was also a beautiful star in the sky, and angels, and a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God.
