Christopher Coleman

I found his webpage on a good friend's blog. I see a lot of patients from the State School and from Community Access, and to me it seems like some of them understand what I am saying. They just can't speak or move. I speak to them as if they can understand what I am saying even if their caregivers tell me they can't. Christopher Coleman's testimony is powerful, and encourages me to consider that some of these patients may be fully cognizant.

There are many lessons that can be learned from his life. Every life has meaning. He was written off as a "retarded" and crippled. My guess is that the doctor who came into the delivery room and wound up saving his life after he had been declared dead fifteen minutes earlier was criticized. My guess is that some of the doctors and nurses in the hospital thought that Christopher would have been better off dead. They were so wrong!
