Turkish Delight- Not All That

Insomnia has reared it's ugly head, so I thought I'd post a review of that Narnian delicacy, Turkish Delight. It's sweet, it's fruity...it's sweet. It's all right. Did I mention that it's sweet? If you like candy orange slices, you'll love Turkish Delight. Here's my disclaimer- the "Delight" we bought was made in Washington state, but in CASHMERE, Washington, so maybe there is some Middle Eastern authenticity to it (note to the humor challenged among us: this is tongue in cheek). I thought it would be delicious with flavors like Strawberry Walnut, Pineapple Macadamian Nut, and Blueberry Pecan. If you could make it less sweet, it would be much better, but you can't because it's main ingredient is sugar. I found a blog of someone in Istanbul. The July 23, 2005 post shows a picture of Turkish Delight, or Lokum, at a market. I'm sure it's much better than what we bought. Click on the photo to be re-directed there. Reading her blog makes me want to go visit Turkey. Who knew a country named after OUR American Thanksgiving main course could be so interesting? You're jive...Turkey! (Jeez, it's late)

I really didn't like the lavender in the candy bar I tasted. I, too, would like to taste the real thing. I bet it would be delicious, because I do like floral tastes in many other things.

This is a huge disappointment to me because when I watched the cartoon I really honed in on the whole "Turkish delight" seduction.

Jonathan especially hated it. Have you ever seen the look he makes with his face when he eats something he doesn't like? He totally made that face. He doesn't like nuts, and these had nuts in them, but I also don't think he liked the texture.

So I'm addicted to your blog. Weird, huh? I could just call you anytime.
