Root Canal!

One of my molars cracked a while back. It has been falling apart around the filling. It hurt whenever anything hot or cold touched it or if I chewed food on that side. We just got dental insurance that kicked in June 1st, and I've been meaning to make an appointment. Well yesterday it got painful. The pain radiated up around my jaw and caused a headache. This morning I called my dentist, and they fit me in. I had to reschedule my morning patients.

The dental hygenist was very nice, but she said those words. You need a root canal. I am afraid of root canals because I've heard an alternative medicine type person say they cause cancer. Lots of people have root canals that don't get cancer, and I'm educated enough to know that I shouldn't believe everything I hear, but I am suggestable enough to consider most anything.

My dentist did the first steps that need to be taken. It took about thirty minutes give or take. I had to get two numbing shots, but my dentist is gentle, and it wasn't that bad. I like her because she was a dental hygenist before she was a dentist, so she really knows teeth. Also, she was a Lady Raider, so she is strong and I don't want a wimpy dentist who might have trouble.

So I got to the office in time to see my 11:30 patient. It was funny. I sounded drunk. I considered not explaining myself to my patients and letting them think I was intoxicated, but I decided against it. That 11:30 patient was hard of hearing, so I had to speak up, so imagine me speaking with slurred speech and very loudly. I wonder what the people in the lad next door thought. One of my patients in the early afternoon had a wisdom tooth removed today, so we were both slurring a little.

I go back in a week and a half to have it finished. The dentist had some trouble today, so she asked them to block off a little extra time. It should be fun...
