G made Belgium waffles this morning, and I did not eat a one; although I was tempted. Here is a picture of Gray eating a waffle "freehand" before everyone sat down at the table to eat waffles with syrup and bacon. He ate one more waffle with syrup (with a fork) and two strips of bacon.I had a difficult morning with South Beach. Last night Jon and Jer had their closing ceremony for Vacation Bible School. I had to work late because both my employees could not stay to close, and after work I headed over to Dillards to look for a Father's Day gift.
I got home at 7:40pm, and G grabbed Gray and we sped over to the church because we needed to be there by 8:10. The songs were so cute, and I was so proud. The problem was that I never had time to eat dinner. On South Beach eating three meals and two snacks is a part of the diet.
When we got home at 9:15pm, I did not want to eat a whole meal, so I ate some small protein snacks and I think a small glass of V-8. I woke up at 4am so hungry I felt weak. My BP was 92/61 at the dentist's office yesterday, and I felt like it was even lower. I tried to sleep, and I had a brief dream about seeing a couple of people from my school in Houston. I dreamt that I was going to get breakfast at a barbeque place- eggs and barbeque. When I woke up again, I couldn't stop thinking about brownies and cinnamon toast.
Just before 6am I couldn't stand it anymore, and I got up. I was shaky. I quickly mixed a teaspoon of sugar free orange flavored Metamucil in a glass of cold water so I could get some fiber in my stomach before I devoured my breakfast. I made two strips of turkey bacon and quevos rancheros with two eggs, cheese, and salsa (I would have loved a corn tortilla under my eggs, but that is not allowed for another week). For someone who used to not crave food in the morning, I was voracious. I made a cup of decaf, and I put some cream and Splenda in it. I was still hungry. I made chocolate milk by dissolving unsweetened cocoa powder in a little bit of hot water and some more Splenda. Then I mixed to with fat free milk. It was yummy.
I used to skip meals all the time, but you can't on this diet. BTW, the Metamucil is psillium husks. It is something that you can drink before meals to reduce cravings because it is dietary fiber. I drink it for the fiber not for the diarrhetic effect. 7g of dietary fiber a day has been shown to lower cholesterol and is heart protective. You can have Metamucil three times a day to get 7g, but it is better, of course, to get much of that fiber in vegetables because of the nutrients. I just didn't feel like forcing myself to drink V-8 or chop vegetables this morning.
