I bought some DVDs for Easter. I got The Animated Passion, It's The Easter Beagle Charlie Brown, and the BBC's production of The Chronicles of Narnia. We watched the first two hours or so of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe last night, and we finished the last hour of it this morning. Last night we started watching it about 8pm, and they were both getting too sleepy to finish it. It was perfect for the boys. I think the 2005 production is too intense for them (especially Jer). The BBC's production uses live actors but also some animation in parts, so it's not so realistic that it is too scary. It's the perfect amount of scary. They watched the whole thing, and they wanted to watch it again this afternoon. We actually started with Prince Caspian this afternoon (the second in the series), but Jer thought it was boring. I'm glad they liked this version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe because my next try was going to be the completely animated version that came out when I was ten, and it is condensed. The BBC production is pretty much to the book. I know the boys don't get the whole metaphor thing now (Aslan/Jesus), but they will someday. I asked them to draw pictures that had anything to do with the movie and here is what they drew. Jon drew Maugrim, the White Witch's army captain. Last night in one part Maugrim growls loudly, and for some reason Jer thought it was hilarious. Maybe it scared him, and it was a nervous laugh, but in any event he cracked up so hard that G rewound it about eight times in a row to keep Jer laughing. We all laughed about it. Jer drew Cair Paravel, but he said it was "Rainbow Paravel". They've lost interest in it this afternoon, and they are playing loudly in Jer's room. It is a very long DVD for their age.

The blue stuff on Jon's picture is snow. That is a bell at the top, and the stick figure is Peter. Jer also drew a picture on the back that kind of came through.
